Location: Philadelphia, PA

Wage: $56,160 per year (minimum)

Work Schedule: Full-time, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, 12 months/year (academic calendar).

Job Description:

CCLC is seeking a qualified Foreign Language and Literature Teacher to teach Chinese language and culture to students and community members. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in second language instruction and a passion for promoting cultural understanding.

Job Duties:

1. Provide Cultural and Language Classes for Local Private High Schools:

• Design and deliver year-long, daily, multi-level courses to meet high school students’ foreign language education goals, ranging from beginner to advanced levels of Chinese.

• Apply innovative teaching methods to enhance students’ technical learning skills and foster their interest in the subject.

• Develop and administer summative and periodic examinations and quizzes to assess student progress.

1. Provide Unique Cultural/Language Services to Chinese-heritage American Families in the University City Community:

• Conduct after-school Chinese language and culture classes for children from kindergarten through 12th grade.

• Prepare teaching plans and manage teaching strategies, incorporating a variety of activities to make learning engaging and effective.

• Create interactive, game-based Chinese cultural classrooms to enhance learning experiences.

• Integrate multimedia tools into classes to teach language and culture effectively.

• Develop and organize cultural events and create educational videos for kids and adults in the community.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree is preferred. A major in Second Language Instruction is required.

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in teaching Chinese language and culture.3+ years’ experience preferred

• Special Skills: Proficiency in the Chinese language and deep knowledge of Chinese culture.

• Other: Strong communication and organizational skills, creativity in teaching methods, and the ability to engage students of all ages.
